Most homeowners and contractors use latex paint nowadays because of its ease of use and quick drying time. Most latex paints will dry within 4 hours, at which time they can be recoated.
However, latex paints may take up to 60 days for to “fully cure”. In most cases, latex paint can be put to normal use after a day or two.
Fresh latex should be allowed to cure for at least 14 days before attempting to wipe or wash the walls. It can be sensitive to water or chemicals during the curing process.
Also, lower sheen finishes, such as flat and matte, will be more susceptible to moisture and chemicals even after fully cured.
